Budget multifunction inkjet printers always seem to have this plastic feel to them and this makes them feel like they could fall apart at any second; the new Epson Stylus SX200 is different however it feels solid and robust. In addition the Epson SX200 is different from most other budget inkjet printers because it has fairly reasonable running costs in terms of the cost of it replacement printer ink cartridges. Usually replacement ink cartridges for budget printers cost more than the printer itself but the Epson SX200 cartridges don’t and further more there are economical because they consists of four individually Epson ink cartridges (black, cyan, magenta, & yellow) which means each one can be changed independently when it has run out of ink. Being a multi-functional device the SX200 offers more than just great quality printing, it has a built-in A4 flatbed scanner that is capable of scanning all types of documents from a basic drawing to a high resolution photos all with great results. The SX200 also comes bundled with software which works with the scanner to enable photo editing. The copier function is one of the SX200’s PC-free functions which means it’s capable of operating without the need for the SX200 to be connected to a PC, the other is direct photo printing from a memory card thanks to the built-in memory card reader. All of these features are good but the SX200 strongest point is its print quality and this is down to is class leading 5760 x 1440 dpi resolution which produces amazingly sharp results on whatever type of documents it prints.
